She rocked, so effortlessly, a black/white turban (that has been all of the rage as of late), a vintage printed jacket, cut-off jean shorts and Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony shoes.

Famed Shoe Designer Christian Louboutin Reveals The Inner Workings Of His Empire!

Via The New Yorker magazine:

1. "I am not producing pills to cure people, so I feel that the whole system should be slightly joyful."

2. "I'll do shoes for the lady who lunches, but it would be, like, a really nasty lunch, talking about men."

3. "My favorite sound is definitely mules. If it was an instrument, it's really ping—the touch of the black keys of the piano."

4. "One thing I detest, I have to say, is when a shoe is too soft, and it's molding to the foot. This is quite disgusting. And I really, really hate incredibly long shoes, where the last is very pointy, almost like Aladdin."

5. "The shiny red color of the soles has no function other than to identify to the public that they are mine. I selected the color because it is engaging, flirtatious, memorable and the color of passion."

British songstress Amy Winehouse was spotted on the streets of London’s Marylebone district yesterday joined by a few friends. 

In related news, Amy has recently launched her Spring/Summer 2011 collection with the Fred Perry label. The collections boasts 32 pieces, including 1950s-style diner wear and Tiki-themed, Hawaiian flavored style.

On her creativity:

“When you’re a creative person, whether you design clothing or homes, your brain is constantly moving. What is beautiful? What gets you going? I have a 99 percent accuracy rate on my gut. I wish I could be that good with people. But projects, I’m pretty right-on about.”

Does Rachel feel powerful?

“Oprah is power — she is everything. Martha, she can make a house out of a piece of paper. I have incredible respect for women like that because it’s not easy. People fight you every step of the way — they pull you down as soon as you get up. And the reality is, it’s harder for women. It’s like if a girl has fooled around with a lot of guys, she’s a slut. But if guys do it, they’re cool.”

On diving into "designing":

“I’ve never been driven by money; I’m driven by the path. And fear. The scariest thing I’ve ever done in my life was start a collection. Being a designer was one of those things where I was, like, ‘Never, never, never!’ Leave it to my heroes. Then I started to itch for it. People would say to me, ‘You’re consulting with designers, giving people your creative, designing gowns … why not?’ ”

 

How she got her start:

“I worked 20-something hours a day, seven days a week. I was completely obsessed with fashion and spent all my money flying to Paris to go to couture because that was the dream. I crashed shows, stood in line for Marc Jacobs. Designers were my heroes and my celebrities. It hasn’t really worn off.”

 

On being scared of the spotlight:

“A stylist is a behind-the-scenes job. I’m never a star when I’m with a star — ever. Back then, I was very insecure about that. Even now, if you watch me on a red carpet, I’m physically uncomfortable. I can’t strike a good pose to save my life. Fortunately and unfortunately, it’s a part of brand-building. It’s just part of my job.”

On bringing style and fashion back to LA:

When Zoe moved to Los Angeles in 2002, she did so with a clear purpose: “to merge the worlds of Hollywood and fashion. … Because I felt that there was this huge disconnect,” she says. “I didn’t understand why the most glamorous place in the world wasn’t using the most glamorous clothes.” She stops short of calling the L.A. fashion scene a joke but describes it as “very different. Ten years ago, you couldn’t find a fashion photographer or couture anywhere around here,” she says. “Coming out, I was fascinated by the red carpet and Old Hollywood in particular, so I was like, ‘You’ve gotta mix things up. You need to give some edge, some glamour, take some chances.’ ”

On being pregnant:

“I can say in all honesty that being pregnant, working with the kind of people I work with and being this businesswoman has been a really wonderful, drama-free time in my life.”

John Galliano Officially Fired From Dior!

YEP! Knew this was right around the corner.....

French fashion house Dior said on Tuesday it is firing John Galliano after complaints were lodged with police that their star designer made offensive and anti-Semitic comments. Dior said it decided to start procedures to fire Galliano after seeing a video clip that purportedly shows the designer shouting abuse at people in a Paris bar. "I very firmly condemn what was said by John Galliano, which totally contradicts the values which have always been defended by Christian Dior," Christian Dior Chief Executive Sidney Toledano said in a statement.

I wonder will he be picked up by another fashion house? You would've thought he would know better than this. Big Brother is always watching! SMH....

Natalie Portman Is None Too Pleased With John Galliano’s Racist Rant!

After a video hit the internet (2nd incident) showing Dior designer John Galliano in an anti-Semitic rant, 29 year old Natalie Portman, who is the current face of Miss Dior Cherie - has released the following statement:

“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful,”

Galliano is still on suspension from the House of Dior after a French couple accused him of hurling racist remarks at them at a cafe in Paris.
