Ricki Lake Returning To Daytime Television!

I likes!!! Ricki Lake was always one of my talk show faves growing up!
Twentieth Television is officially in development on a talk show starring Ricki Lake, the company said Wednesday.

The hour-long show is in development with an eye toward a fall 2012 launch on broadcast stations, cable networks or a combination of both. Distributors expect the 2012 market for new shows to be more competitive than it's been in recent years. Besides Lake, the industry is waiting to learn whether Katie Couric will launch a new syndicated talker and with what distributor.

"It has been very fulfilling for the past seven years to focus my energy on advocacy work on behalf families and children," said Lake in a statement. "Now, I am excited to return to my roots and work with Twentieth Television to develop a talk show that will give me an opportunity to share my experiences and reconnect with audiences."
WONDERFUL!

Snooki, Jwoww And Pauly D Score "Jersey Shore" Spinoffs

We reported this information months ago, but MTV has now confirmed they are moving forward with TWO "Jersey Shore" spinoff shows: one for DJ Pauly D and the other for Snooki and Jwoww!
“I got my own Spinoff! #SnookiRevolution” Snooki tweeted. The show, according to MTV, will examine the lives of Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni "J-Woww" Farley with a fine-toothed comb as their friendship grows with wisdom and understanding. And let’s not forget about Pauly D. The DJ will do what he does best (no, not hairstyling) and will travel with his pals from Rhode Island. MTV says the focus will be on “one of the country’s most in-demand DJ’s.” The show will start filming later this year and be on air in 2012.
Ummmm, the burning question in my mind is, WHAT ABOUT THE "JERSEY SHORE"? Is it over? I hope not!

CONGRATS to the crew!

PS - I know The Situation is sitting around somewhere SALTY! Dah well...

"Real Housewives Of DC" Is DUNZO!

Can I get an AMEN up in here? Let's be honest...the show was a snoozefest!

Via RadarOnline:
They’re tearing out the hair extensions and folding up those power suits – as, after just one season, The Real Housewives Of DC has bitten the dust, RadarOnline.com can exclusively report. The fifth installation of the hit reality franchise came in with a whimper and never much took off from there, drawing meager ratings all throughout it’s short lived broadcast. “The show just didn’t do well and it wasn’t worth airing another season,” a source close to the situation told RadarOnline.com. “The DC housewives were meant to be starting shooting their second season now and they haven’t heard a peep from Bravo. “No one from the cast has been contacted yet and told that the show is cancelled.” RadarOnline.com has learned that the DC franchise isn’t the only Housewives show that has been struggling to lure viewers – Miami has also been performing poorly in the ratings war, forcing producers to reassess any further expansion. “After DC failed in the ratings and Miami just bombed, they realized they can’t just start a show anywhere and it will succeed,” the source said. The Housewives franchise has been a phenomenal success, spawning a total of seven different franchises – Orange County, Atlanta, New Jersey, New York, DC, Beverly Hills and Miami. “Bravo used to think it was about the brand and they could switch the housewives at any point but now they have realized it is about the women involved and that has changed their perspective,” the source said. “They’ve realized a lot with the failure of DC and Miami, and they’re going to concentrate on the successful shows they have and not expand any further. “Andy Cohen has made it official that there will be no more new Housewives franchises.” In the meantime, when it comes to DC : “We’re just hoping that people forget it ever happened,” the source said.
*OUCH*

Being a native Washingtonian, even I'm not mad at this decision! Good Ratings = fighting and hair-pulling. If you're gonna be on reality TV, you better get with the program.

Head Of Def Jam, L.A. Reid, Leaving To Be A Judge On "X-Factor"!

Hey! Not a bad deal.....
Simon Cowell has appointed Def Jam chairman Antonio 'L.A.' Reid as the first 'X Factor' judge. The 54-year-old music producer -- who has helped launch the careers of the likes of Rihanna, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Pink and Mariah Carey -- will reportedly take up a place on the judging panel alongside Simon and two more yet-to-be revealed stars when the first round of auditions begin in two weeks. It is believed an official announcement will be made later in the week, with the remaining two places on the panel set to be snapped up by high-profile women. One insider told the Hollywood Reporter: "It's a done deal." Another source close to the negotiations told website Entertainment Weekly: "L.A. wants to do it. He has his sights set on a seat on that panel, and apparently Simon would like it to happen." Record executive L.A. recently explained he thinks music has its place on TV and the medium has now become more influential than radio. He said: "I think music on television certainly has a place and it's important. In some ways, TV has become as impactful as radio once was. It's just another way of doing it. You can find music on "American Idol," on YouTube, on KIIS-FM or on a mixed tape. The more platforms we have, the better off we are as an industry." Also believed to be in the running for the remaining posts on the judging panel are U.K. "X Factor" judge Cheryl Cole, former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger and Katy Perry.

Watch Out "American Idol"....Here Comes "The Voice"!

NBC wants to put a little pressure on FOX's reality hit American Idol by having a similar reality show competition called "The Voice", and yesterday they decided to kick things off with a press conference in Los Angeles, California.

The show's hosts will be Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Carson Daly and lastly Christina Aguilera, who will be taking on the duties of a singing coach.

About her duties, Christina says: “There is no good and bad. This isn’t about tearing people down. I want to bring these people up. The Voice really does stand for what it says. You can judge people based on the way they look. I love that fact we get to sit here with our backs turned away from these people and completely use just one sense to hear these voices. I’m not looking for vocal acrobatics, who has biggest range high and low. I’m looking forward to getting moved."

Hmmmmmm. I don't know! There have been many shows that have tried to rally American Idol and have failed. I wonder how this will be different?!?!

We'll see.....

Charlie Sheen Officially Fired From "Two And A Half Men"!

WELP! Can't say we're surprised here....
Charlie Sheen just got his pink slip.

"After careful consideration, Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen's services on Two and a Half Men effective immediately," the show's producers say in a statement.

His firing places the future of the hit CBS sitcom in doubt. The network declined to comment, but one source close to the show says, "no decision has been made" about whether to continue with a new star or to cancel it all together.

Two and a Half Me, which costars Jon Cryer, went on hiatus after Sheen, 45, started lambasting his boss, series co-creator Chuck Lorre, in a series of bizarre interviews.

The actor also faces a restraining order obtained by his estranged wife and had his twin boys taken away by police and placed in the custody of their mother, Brooke Bueller.
Uhhhh, I guess he's no longer "WINNING", eh? I apologize for using that word! Forgive me...

Here is Charlie's response after being fired:
"This is very good news. They continue to be in breach, like so many whales. It is a big day of gladness at the Sober Valley Lodge because now I can take all of the bazillions, never have to look at whatshiscock again and I never have to put on those silly shirts for as long as this warlock exists in the terrestrial dimension."
Warlock? Terrestrial dimension? I'm confused...
